Taking care of babies teeth from the beginning is imperative if you want your child to have healthy permanent teeth.
Your infant will have 20 baby teeth. These teeth will begin to erupt around six months of age. However, all babies are different with some not seeing the first tooth until they are 12 months old; it really depends on the child.
You should wipe your newborns gums after each feeding with a damp washcloth. You can also use a gauze pad soaked in water.
When you see the first tooth use a baby toothbrush and continue brushing as each tooth erupts.
Be careful with sugar in formulas and juices as too much can lead to baby bottle decay. In addition, try not to become dependent on pacifiers as they are not good for your child’s teeth and gums either.
